Call me plastic.

Plastic surgery can easily be coined with the simple idea of changing clothes, for the purpose of looking good. We purchase clothes which we perceive as aesthetically pleasing, clothings which can bring out the best in us for the purpose of looking good. Many, especially in an era as such which embraces the ideals of a capitalistic economy, have became slaves to fashion.

We spend our hard earned money on labels that can be purchased almost everywhere possible; cities, malls, online shops, trades, ebay etc. Fashion has been glorified, in terms of the price tagged to it, of course. Who hasn't heard of Chanel and Prada? If i were to organize an event where Free Prada bags would be given away with nothing in exchange, can you imagine how long the queue would be?

Just like being slaves to fashion, in the name of wanting to look good, some resort to plastic surgery to correct what they deem as unacceptable. Alterations can be done to the eyes, to the nose and even, the genitals. Many have be slandered against for subjecting themselves into this aspect of medical science. Famous names have been criticized for undergoing surgeries as such. Some employ this reason to go against the person and perhaps, even to the extent of attacking the beauty of the individual.

  • Dawn Yang has been compelled to admit if she went for plastic surgery. Pictures of her from her younger days have been circulated around the internet.
  • Some criticize Wendy Cheng (xiaxue) for being yet another fake, since she had her nose done as well.
  • Kaykay, have been slandered against by fellow contestant from S factor, for having a boob job done.
  • .............................and many many more!
No doubt, the names mentioned above are people of outstanding talents. Dawn Yang is known for her class and educational achievements (perhaps wealth too), Wendy Cheng for being intelligent, analytical, goofy and humorous and kaykay for being beautiful, sexy and of course, for her educational achievements too. Instead of having these qualities magnified, they have been slandered for their plastic surgeries, whether if these claims are accurate or not is another issue.

Ever wondered why people react so harshly towards the idea of plastic surgery, especially in Singapore? What is the difference between changing your clothes to look good and changing your features for the very same reasons, to look good? Well, unless you are willing to flaunt the naked body of yours without any changes done to it such as putting on nice clothes and powder slapped on your face, do consider your qualms against the idea of plastic surgery before you make a judgment!

Why not celebrate instead of criticizing? Hmm... or is that an implication of jealousy?
